We met Nelson after accepting his older brother Wilmer into the Micah House in July of 2007. Wilmer was on the streets at the time, using yellow glue on a daily basis. The family lived in a rented room on one of the most dangerous blocks of Tegucigalpa's market district. Nelson's dad is in jail, and his mom scraped by to feed her kids on a daily basis. In 2009, the Micah Project moved his family into a room closer to the Micah Project, but the family continued to struggle to survive. In June, 2009, Nelson moved into the Micah House. |

When Nelson joined, the Micah Project in June 2009 as a 12 year old, he had never been to school in his life. He is sharp though, and absorbed our first grade lessons quickly. He also has a funny sense of humor and is always quick with a hug! Here, he shows off his carpentry skills in September 2009. |

| Nelson's family spent several years living in a rented room in this dark alley on one of the worst blocks of Tegucigalpa's outdoor market district (the room is through the red door in this picture). Both of his older brothers were on the streets and daily life was extremely precarious. |
